U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD

from 50.00

The 4,000 midshipmen who attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland have a special name for the odd behavior you see here.

They call it "grazing"

But not to worry. Grazing is actually pretty common at the Academy. Each May when the midshipment shoulder their rifles and unsheath their swords in order to practice for graduation, they're warned not to "lock" their knees rigidly while standing at attention.

Lock your knees, and you choke off the circulation of blood back to your brain.

The you faint. And you graze.
