Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico

from 50.00

Looming high atop a 367-foot sandstone monolith, New Mexico's Acoma Pueblo is regarded by most historians as the "oldest inhabited village" in the United States. Today the Pueblo is home to a thriving Native American settlement and one of the country's best-known cultural and historical museums.

Centuries before the first Europeans arrived in the New World, the Acomas and other pueblo-dwellers were living in these mud-brick houses. The tribe gained fame throughout the Southwest for its exquisite, thin walled pottery.
